2025 Coaching Pathways at Basketball Queensland

Whether you're just starting your coaching journey or looking to advance to the highest levels, Basketball Queensland (BQ) offers a comprehensive range of pathways, and it's never too late to join us!
As of August 2024, BQ transitioned to etrainu for all coaching accreditation and resources. Previous program OwnUrGoal and the BQ Coaches app are no longer active. This article provides essential information to help you navigate the new platform and continue your coaching journey.
Moving from OwnUrGoal to etrainu?
All coaches from OwnUrGoal have been manually imported into the etrainu platform.
- Click here to get to etrainu.
- Under 'username', enter your [First Name][Last Name].BQLD (i.e. JohnSmith.BQLD).
- Select 'Forgot Password?', and you will be sent an email to reset your email & password.
- Once logged in, go to 'Skills Passport' to check if your accreditation is correct.

Community Coaches
If you are not previously accredited, and want to get started on your coaching and learning journey, jump into our BQ community online course! This is a minimum requirement within Basketball Queensland to coach at any level.
- Sign up to etrainu.
- Select “Training Library”.
- Select “Basketball Queensland - Coaches”.
- Select “Community Coach”.
- Complete the course and requirements.
Club Coaches
This is the first basketball-specific accreditation in your coaching journey, touching on how to develop individual skills, as well as basic team concepts. This is a minimum requirement to be a head coach at junior club/rep level.
Please note, prior to becoming a Club Coach you must complete the Community Coach Accreditations.
- Sign up to etrainu.
- Select “Training Library”.
- Select “Basketball Queensland - Coaches”.
- Select “Club Coach”.
- Complete the course and theoretical requirements.
- Book in to attend a Club Course practical session at your local association.
Association Courses
This is a more in-depth accreditation, aimed at experienced coaches. It includes presentations, advanced tactics, and how to improve on-court competencies as a coach. This is a minimum requirement to be a head coach at senior rep, NBL1 North and QLD state team level. You must have held your Club Accreditation for at least 12 months.

- Course #1: May 31 - June 1st @ Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre
- Course #2: : November 15-16 2025 @ Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre
- NQ Course - TBC

ASPIRE Coach Pathway
The ASPIRE Program is the high performance coaching pathway for current, future, and emerging coaches in QLD. The program aims to educate, involve, and support coaches throughout the state, with coaches exposed to:
- Online workshops
- BQ content and resources
- Access to attend and coach at BQ High Performance and Player Development Sessions
