New Logan Indoor Sports Centre one step closer

New Logan Indoor Sports Centre one step closer

Funding has been approved and expressions of interest for works will soon be issued for a new $142.1 million indoor sports centre in the heart of Logan City.

This investment will help meet future community sport needs and support the region to attract more major events.

The accessible facility will consist of nine multi-purpose indoor courts across two separate halls capable of hosting 7,000 spectators during the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

With a flexible design, the centre will be able to accommodate a range of sports including basketball, netball, volleyball, futsal, handball, wheelchair rugby, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, badminton, fencing, table tennis, and taekwondo.

The project will support an average of 192 full-time equivalent jobs across the two construction years from 2026 to 2028.

Treasurer of Australia and member for Rankin, Jim Chalmers, is excited with the commitment from both governments.

“This is the biggest ever investment in local sporting infrastructure. It’s all about ensuring more locals can participate in sport and access a world class new indoor stadium,” said Jim Chalmers.

Basketball Queensland CEO, Joshua Pascoe, believes this investment will continue to drive basketball participation in Queensland.

“It's great to see another significant piece of infrastructure as we continue on the pathway to the 2032 Games; projects like these will transform local communities now and into the future."

"The Games are more than just a month of sport in 2032, they are the catalyst for generational change within communities, and with announcements already in Sunshine Coast Council, Brisbane City Council, City of Moreton Bay and now Logan City Council this change will be felt for generations to come throughout South East Queensland,” said Joshua Pascoe
